Training and Applications Engineer

Department: Applications

Location: Based in North of England, but role will be Nationwide

Working hours: Full time, permanent

XYZ Machine Tools LTD are a leading supplier of Machine Tools into the UK.  With over 25,000 machine tools supplied to date we are looking for an apprentice-trained CNC Applications Engineer or programmer/machinist from within the machine tool industry to join our dedicated team of field-based Training & Applications Engineers (turning & milling experience would be an advantage).

The successful applicant will have done a minimum of a 4 year apprenticeship in the engineering sector preferably with CNC programming/machining experience.

Main responsibilities:
The applicant should be comfortable working with machine tools & have good communication skills. Experience with ProtoTRAK® and Siemens controlled machines is beneficial although not essential as training will be given on control aspects of the machines. The role will involve travelling to XYZ showrooms & customer’s sites to train & demonstrate XYZ Machine Tools’ extensive range of machines and will involve some nights away.

CNC Machine Builder

Department: Production

Location: Burlescombe, Devon

Working hours: Full time, permanent – 07:45 – 17:00 Mon to Thurs, 08:30 – 12:30 Fridays (39 hours)

We are looking for a Production Machine Builder (ideally suited to someone with a mechanical background or mechanic). You will play a key role in assembling, testing and preparing state of the art CNC lathes and mills to ISO standard. The role is hands on, detail driven and ideal for someone with a passion for mechanical and electrical engineering.

Main responsibilities:

  • Assemble CNC lathe and mills from castings to finished systems.
  • Install CNC software packages.
  • Install and test mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic components.
  • Carry out calibration to achieve ISO requirements.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical build issues.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Background in engineering or mechanics
  • Understanding of mechanical drawings, tolerances and assembly principles.
  • Good ability of using hand tools.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistent high quality, built machines.

Trainee Commissioning and Servicing Engineer

Department: Service

Location: Nationwide – All locations considered

Working hours: Full time

The role will consist of travelling to customers sites to commission and carry out annual services on our ProtoTRAK range of milling machines and lathes and as such will involve some weekly nights away in a hotel.

Experience of the ProtoTRAK control would be beneficial but not essential as training will be given on the control aspects of the machines. This roll may suit a machinist with some maintenance background or a maintenance engineer that wants to progress in to service.

Training will be given initially at our Devon HQ and further training will be given onsite with a senior engineer.

We are looking for an apprentice trained service engineer from within the machine tool industry to join our dedicated team of field based service engineers

The successful applicant will have done a minimum of a 4 year apprenticeship in the engineering sector preferably with field service experience. The applicant should be comfortable working with both mechanical and electrical aspects of machine tools. Experience with ProtoTRAK® and Siemens controlled machines beneficial although not essential as training will be given on control aspects of the machines. The role will involve travelling to customers sites to commission, service and repair XYZ Machine Tools extensive range of machines and will involve some nights away.
