The most expensive item on any machine shopfloor is its manpower!
The capital cost of a machine tool should be amortised over its reasonable life of say 7-10 years so, a £50,000 machine would cost £5,000 to £7,000 per year. However, an operator costs around £40,000 a year, every year, so that person needs to be kept busy. It is here that the XYZ RMX 2-OP comes into its own. The XYZ RMX 2-OP increases productivity by adding a spindle and creating a cell operated by one person, thereby maximising the available labour hours and reducing manufacturing costs.
Everyone knows that in a production environment making masses of the same item that running a cell is the most efficient use of labour. But in a subcontract environment if the job is only a few hundred components or a few days’ work it’s not worth setting up a cell moving heavy machines around. The RMX 2-OP addresses this issue and allows you to quickly set up a cell so smaller batches or where a job might only last 3 or 4 days can be machined with “cell” efficiency dramatically reducing the time on the whole job.
If you’re using a ProtoTRAK® or any machine, quite a lot of the “expensive” operator time can be just waiting for a machining cycle to finish. With 2-OP they can use this time productively and almost free. The XYZ RMX 2-OP portability addresses this issue and allows for this quicker production.
