XYZ Machine Tools’ annual European Distributor Conference saw representatives from 10 countries attending, with the highlight being the revealing of the new RLX and RMX ProtoTRAK control system. Seeing the new control for the first time drew extremely positive comments from the delegates with a general feeling of amazement at how ProtoTRAK RLX and RMX combines sophisticated operation yet maintains the simplicity of previous generations of the ProtoTRAK system.

XYZ Machine Tools’ European distributors get an introduction to the new ProtoTRAK RLX and RMX control

The European market is strengthening for XYZ Machine Tools and this annual gathering of its European distributors at its Burlescombe, Devon headquarters is an ideal opportunity to further cement relationships and highlight the latest developments. Howard Bamforth, XYZ Machine Tools Export Sales Director comments: “Growth has been strong over the past few years with sales increasing by around 40 per cent since 2016. We are also continuing to grow our distribution network, with three new partners coming on-board in the past 12 months. The mix of machines and control systems that we can offer appear to be a perfect fit thanks to their ease-of-use and overall capability.”

The delegates saw the two variants of the new ProtoTRAK control, RLX for lathes and RMX for mills, feature a touchscreen that brings to the user full gesture control to greatly improve ease of use. Machining efficiency is also enhanced with the addition of new software like the Adaptive Machining software. This allows users to maximise the performance of the latest cutting tool technology and improve process times, especially on features such as pockets and pockets with an unlimited number of islands located inside their boundaries. Auto Geometry Engine (AGE) allows operators to create programs, even when certain dimensions are missing from the drawing, with the software making calculations to fill in the blanks on screen.

15 delegates from 10 countries attended the XYZ Machine Tools’ European distributor event

“The new ProtoTRAK controls were well received at the recent Southern Manufacturing show and it has been interesting to see the very positive reactions of visitors there and now from our European partners. While the changes to ProtoTRAK will make significant differences to the productivity of the XYZ machines they are fitted to, the familiarity of the system will ensure existing ProtoTRAK users can move seamlessly from old to new and new users will be producing complex parts within a very short space of time thanks to ProtoTRAK’s innovative conversational programming and on-board help.” Nigel Atherton, Managing Director, XYZ Machine Tools.
