Following the announcement that XYZ Machine Tools has entered the 3D printing sector as an official reseller of the revolutionary HP Jet Fusion 3D printing solution, it has strengthened its sales team with the appointment of Jim Ashby, who will be coordinating sales of the system across the south of England.

Jim Ashby who has joined XYZ Machine Tools as a HP Multi Jet Fusion 3D printing sales specialist
Jim has extensive experience in metal cutting, having served his apprenticeship at Rolls Royce where he learnt the skill of looking at solid engineering reasons to do things. Most recently, he has spent eight years working across the 3D printing sector with various companies. “3D printing, or additive manufacturing has been around for 1000s of years, from ancient civilisations making coil pots, to building a wall, it’s all additive manufacturing,” says Jim Ashby. “However, we are now entering a period of what I see as quiet revolution, and with the new HP technology we can finally start to take 3D printing out of the prototype arena and into manufacturing as a genuine production tool, as it brings together the ‘perfect storm’ of cost-effective, fast computing power and, the ability to make real parts in commercially usable materials quickly and affordably.”
XYZ Machine Tools’ move into 3D printing is quite a logical step suggests Jim, as he sees the system as ‘just another machine tool’ and XYZ’s long experience in selling and providing market-leading customer support for its metal cutting machines will transfer seamlessly to the 3D printing sector. “Appointing Jim to this role will enhance our proposal to customers in the 3D market and his vast experience of the technology will also support John Aspinall who will cover sales in the north and Mark Higson who will provide applications support for our HP Jet Fusion customers,” Nigel Atherton, Managing Director, XYZ Machine Tools.
