Faced with an influx of work, Chirton Engineering needed to source a vertical machining centre with large capacity to replace an existing machine reaching the end of its life cycle. The North Shields-based sub-contractor turned to XYZ Machine Tools and its XYZ 3010. This 25 tonne machine with 1000 mm travel in the Y-axis and 3000 mm in the X-axis is the largest VMC in its range.
Given the size of the machine delivery may normally have been an issue, but XYZ’s policy of holding up to 300 machines in stock, from across its range meant that Chirton had its machine within two weeks of placing the order.
